Our Non-Smoking Building
Our Peabody condominium building went non-smoking in April 2016. It is now July and as I write this blog piece, I continue to inhale my neighbors cigarette smoke. Everyone in this building is aware that it is a non-smoking building, but a few of the smokers are just plain angry that the building went non-smoking and continue to defy the non-smoking rule of the building.
When these people are confronted about their smoking, they flatly deny they have been smoking in the building. And they do this while their cigarette smoke is billowing out of their condominium doors as their being spoken to about the problem. They blatently lie and tell you they have not been smoking, while the smoke is hitting you in your face.
I think we will have to go to the Peabody Board of Health and the Peabody Court House for some suggestions on how to deal with this issue correctly and legally.

My neighbor's second hand smoke....
I live in a condominium and my next door neighbor smokes cigarettes. Her cigarette smoke seeps into my condominium through the baseboard heating radiators, the electrical outlets, and through any and all other open areas between our condominium units. On occassion she will go out onto her balcony, which is just a few feet away from mine, and her cigarette smoke seeps in through my air conditioner unit or my sliding glass door when it is open.
The city I live in is Peabody, MA and Peabody has an Environmental Smoke Regulation(a copy of it is on this website), which is supposed to protect me from second-hand tobacco smoke. The regulation is worded very specifically in regards to a smokers requirements in a multiple dwelling residential setting. My cigarette smoking neighbor has been given a copy of the regulation with a letter concerning her second hand smoke infiltration into my condominium unit. She has plainly disregarded the complaint letter and the instructions to smokers in the regulation. I therefore continue to get her cigarette smoke into my condo. Instead of complying with the regulation(which has the power of the law), she has done nothing but become angry and defensive about her tobacco addiction.
